Room at Lego Inn

A young Lego fanatic notices something about the Nativity story and takes steps to correct it.

From a young age, Caleb was a fanatic about Legos.

And he was quite a prodigy. At the age of two, he put together an Egyptian pyramid without any help. At three, he made a Volkswagen Beetle. At four, it was a World War II battle and, at five, it was a TV studio.

At age six, he put together the most impressive thing of all. It was not the most complicated design, but it was the most thoughtful.

After Christmas Eve services, Caleb came home, went into his room, and pulled out a box of assorted Legos that were not part of any kit. He brought them out and began to make something on the edge of the Christmas tree skirt. From older Legos, he fashioned a hotel, or, as he called it, The Inn-credible. For short, he sometimes just called it The Inn.

After finishing the construction, Caleb brought over the Nativity set that had the smallest figures. He placed the animals outside the hotel, but he opened the doors of The Inn-credible and carefully placed the Baby Jesus, Mary, and Joseph in its lobby.

Caleb positioned them there so they could properly receive visitors. He then put the shepherds and wiseman in a line outside the hotel and they went inside one by one to meet the Baby Jesus and receive autographs from Mary and Joseph, according to Caleb.

When asked about his activity, Caleb said, “I never liked the part of the story when there was no place for them to stay. So, this year, I decided to do something about it.”
