St. Joseph the Gift Giver?
Is St. Joseph delivering a few gifts on Christmas Eve?
Reports came trickling in over the years that there was another character active on Christmas Eve besides Santa Claus.
The most convincing story came from children who went to sleep in their beds and woke in a new wooden bed with a guardian angel headboard.
“I went to sleep with a plain bed and woke up with my guardian angel looking down at me,” seven-year-old Carlos said. “And it looks exactly like my guardian angel.”
Every bed had a different looking angel on it and most kids recognized it as their very own guardian angel.
Other stories circulated that children would awaken on Christmas morning with a wooden Nativity set on the floor beside their bed while all their other presents were under the Christmas tree.
“I almost stepped on it as I was rushing to get downstairs to the Christmas tree,” eight-year-old Meryl exclaimed.
Detective Hershel Gregory took the case to try to figure out if there was someone else active on Christmas Eve besides Santa Claus. He traveled far and wide interviewing every family in the world that reported presents that were not found under the tree.
Interestingly, all these special presents were made of wood and all of them were religious. Some of these gifts arrived on Christmases many years ago way back when the grandparents of today’s children were young. The grandparents passed these special gifts onto their children who then passed them onto their children.
So, these special gifts had been happening for many, many years. But compared to all the presents that Santa delivered, there were just a few of these special gifts. Stories about these special gifts did spread but they never became well-known.
Along with guardian angel headboards and Nativity sets, there was just one other special wooden gift that had been received every now and then. It was like a Russian nested doll. The outer level was God the Father. The next smaller level was Mary. The next level was the Baby Jesus, who was inside Mary. The next and final level inside the Baby Jesus was God the Father again, which showed the mysterious relationship between Jesus and God the Father.
