The Peaceful Dove

Themes: Prayer, Holy Spirit

Luisa hopped on the back of the Peaceful Dove (Holy Spirit) and went for a ride way up high above her home.

From way up high, her problems seemed so small. With God’s help, our concerns seem smaller and manageable.

Once Luisa was having a very bad day.

Luisa yelled at her sister. She had trouble listening to what Mom and Dad said. Luisa went into her room and flopped on the bed. In there, her problems seemed to fill the whole room—they were so very big.

Luisa prayed to God to send down the Peaceful Dove. Soon, it came gliding down with its beautiful, big wings. It was so big that Luisa could hop on its back.

The Peaceful Dove took off and soared with the clouds. It was so peaceful way up there. From way up there, Luisa could see her school. She could see her church and her home. From way up there, her home seemed so small. From way up there, Luisa’s room seemed even smaller. And, from way up there, her problems seemed so very, very small.

The Peaceful Dove completed its flight and took Luisa back to her room. Luisa hugged the Peaceful Dove around its neck. Then, she waved goodbye as the Peaceful Dove flew away for now with its powerful, white wings disappearing into the clouds.

Luisa’s problems that once filled the whole room were now very small. Luisa was so thankful to the Peaceful Dove and to God. Luisa was ready to face her day. With the help of the Peaceful Dove, she was going to try very hard to be nice to her sister. Also, Luisa was going to try very hard to listen to Mom and Dad.
