Protecting Santa

A little boy name Teddy was worried about Santa Claus. The police might think Santa was an intruder when he went into people’s homes. The police might arrest him. Even worse, Santa was getting older and might not be able to move on roofs like he used to. Santa might get hurt.

Teddy wrote a letter to the police.

Dear Police,

I am worried that you will think that Santa Claus is a burglar coming into my house on Christmas Eve. Will you make sure that he does not get arrested? Also, Santa is getting older, so will you make sure that he doesn’t hurt himself when he is climbing on my roof?

Thanks,

Teddy

A few days later, the police wrote back to Teddy.

Dear Teddy,

Don’t worry about Santa Claus. We will make sure he is safe.

On Christmas Eve, Teddy looked out his window. He saw a police car parked near his house. He saw an ambulance parked down the street. He also saw a firetruck with a long ladder that could easily reach up to Teddy’s roof.

Teddy was so happy that he ran outside with a plate of cookies and gave them to the police officer, the ambulance people, and the fire fighters.

Without any worries about Santa, Teddy was able to fall right asleep. In the morning, the presents were all under the Christmas tree and the police car, the ambulance, and the firetruck were no longer on Teddy’s street. Everything was as it should be. Teddy was so happy!
