The Fallen Present

Tommy was pulling his brand new sled through the woods late on Christmas Day. Suddenly, he spotted a bright red color in a snowbank. He looked closely and it was a red ribbon tied around a white box. He ran over to it and saw a tag sticking from under the ribbon: “From Santa.” But the tag didn’t say who the present was for.

“No way!” Tommy said to himself, as he looked straight up into the sky.

“This present fell from Santa’s sleigh as it flew over,” Tommy continued.

Tommy carefully examined the snow around the present. There was less snow on the right side of the present. Tommy like to pretend that he was a detective.

“It looks like the present was sliding and skidding from right to left,” Tommy observed. “So, Santa’s sleigh was flying in that direction.” Tommy pointed to the left.

“If Santa was headed that way, then he was headed toward the town of Westerton,” Tommy deduced. “The present would only fall if it were at the top of Santa’s bag. Presents at the top of the bag are the next ones to be delivered. So, the owner of this present lives in Westerton, or, at least, near that town.”

After carefully examining the scene, Tommy picked up the present, put it on his sled, and hurried back to his house.

Once inside his room, Tommy decided that he needed more clues, so he had to examine the contents of the present. He carefully opened up the present so as not to break the ribbon or tear the wrapping paper.

Inside, he found a whole bunch of clues!

The present was a charm bracelet. Each charm gave a clue about the owner.
